Four of the Facets of Fatherhood

Four of the Facets of Fatherhood

Fatherhood can be full of adventure, fun times and tears.  It can also be a life filled with unexpected depths of love and complete chaos all in the same hour.  Dads don’t always know how to navigate these turbulent waters – no one does really, there is no manual, no college course, no “Be the Best Dad Ever” elective and yet somehow, they are expected to sail smoothly.  Here are four common facets that find fathers and will try to trip them up to discourage them:

Whatever Happened to GI Joe?

Whatever Happened to GI Joe?

Joe was like many of the young men his age, he was strong willed, fit and had a whole future ahead of him.  The one thing he lacked however, was clarity on what to do with his life. Some of his other senior classmates had decided to join the military and told Joe all about the opportunity for a good education, the chance to travel the world and get training in a career that could make some decent money.  These promises sounded like a good plan mostly because he didn’t have a plan for himself once he graduated high school.

San Rafael, 2 Stop Home Elevator

This custom built home in the hills of San Rafael happened to have the perfect setting for an indoor elevator. Our clients needed to make their home accessible for their elderly family members and friends with disabilities. 102 Ft Stair lift for our 92 year old friend

102 Ft Stair lift for our 92 year old friend

This year Gamburd Inc. broke its own record by installing the world’s longest stairlift for Mary.  To put 102 feet into perspective consider this:  On average a Bruno handmade custom stairlift has 4 rail sections and is 20 feet long.  People often think that stairlifts are mounted to walls, but they are actually mounted to the stairs with stands.  On average about ten stands are used.  Mary’s outdoor stairlift used 20 rail sections and 57 stands.  The rail for the lift used over a ton of steel.  Even with this, Gamburd Inc. installed the entire lift in one day.  Mary was instructed how to use her stairlift and taking rides before the sun set.  Below is an interview with Mary.  We thought you’d like to hear her story in her own words.
